Contender Charter cloth was developed specifically for worldwide charter fleets and designed to meet the demands of UV protection and the problem of wear during long periods of time on the water.

 To offset these issues Contender developed larger denier warps to add to the chafe and tear resistance of the cloth which increases its strength and stretch resistance. It also provides UV protection over a longer period of time. By using special looms, careful selection of yarn, and heavy warps, this becomes an economical fabric with exceptional quality.

This Premium Challenge Dacron comes in both High (Fiber 104 with Honeywell 1W70) and Low (Marblehead) aspect versions depending on your rig.

Fibercon® Pro Radial from Contender was designed to meet the needs of radial cut sails. The unique yarns and weaving techniques produce a line of sailcloth with high UV survival with a superb duration period.

Because they are produced in a wide range of weights, they can be used in a wide range of sail sizes. In fact, different weights can be incorporated into the same sail to accommodate its particular load needs. For sails that are more performance oriented, we recommend a firm Polypreg finish.  This will offer greater stability.  The medium Polypreg finish will give better handling.

This Radial Performance Sail comes from one of the top sail cloth manufacturers in the world, Contender. This sail has exceptional bias stability and tear strength that comes from the ZigZag polyester fibers laminated between the taffeta.

The ZigZag polyester fibers stabilize the radial loads, allowing for a longer retention of sail shape. The USA woven UV treated polyester taffetas on both sides of the laminated cloth provide addition durability and UV protection. The CDX laminates are best for the sailors who are continually in varying wind strengths, allowing stability due to the strength of the evenly distributed ZigZag laminated panels. Perfect for a easy to handle sail because the sail shape stays flatter longer, points higher and heals less as the wind increases! It is constructed with a high-quality polyester fiber with a 0-90 load bearing scrim. Manufactured using special techniques, warp crimp is virtually eliminated. CL-DIAX-LSP is a mid-range cloth that is stronger, stretches less, and is lighter in weight, all of which add up to a perfect fabric when you are considering a replacement mainsail or jib.  Combine this with its price and it makes an excellent investment for cruising.

This cloth features a 45-degree DIAX scrim and twin film construction that will result in better shape retention by reducing stretch and taffeta is added to increase UV resistance for the life of the sail.  Less stretch will give you more forward drive and less heeling over which means you and your guests will notice the extra comfort during your voyage. This cloth is also mildew-resistant that you will find has a soft hand to improve sailing through light winds. If you are looking for a versatile cloth for cruising, go with CL-DIAX-LSP.

CL DIAX P is a fabric that is appropriate for use on 30- to 50- foot yachts but can be used on craft up to 60 feet. This fabric uses taffeta-on-taffeta laminates with a polyester warp fiber. This translates to reduced elongation and better handling.

It comes in white and gold DIAX and has increased bias polyester and double taffeta. Sails made from CL-P are a solid investment in your cruising pleasure.  The polyester taffetas protect the load-bearing scrim.  Since they are both lightweight and durable, they will provide better handling and retain their shape in a reasonable price range. With lamination on both sides, it supplies the endurance to sail through all conditions for mile upon mile offering the performance, shape retention, and price that owners are looking for.

These fabrics offer stretch resistance and shape retention better than woven sailcloth.  They are durable and long lasting.

The CL products are based on scrim component technology that uses flat, untwisted ribbons of fiber formed into several scrims.  Compared with woven cloth, this process will maximize the performance of the product. Combining lightweight polyesters or Dyneema taffeta with laminate warp/fill scrim will resist stretch and secondary loading on the sail. This means that the weight of the sail is reduced for better performance in light winds, but reduced stretch and strength are still present. All of this means better sailing and a more enjoyable experience for the sailor and crew.

Bainbridge DIAX-PP-P

For better performance in racing, the DIAX-PP-P fabric will provide a longer life for the sail.  It is a new Film-on-Taffeta design that has proven more durable and stronger than DIAX-P and equivalents.

Using the latest technology the improvements are achieved by substituting one of the film layers for a lightweight, woven taffeta. Like all DIAX products, this material is based on scrim component technology using flat, untwisted ribbons of fiber to maximize performance.  Its zero crimp warp/fill scrim will resist primary and secondary loading and it has a diagonal axis scrim to reduce bias stretch. If you are interested in racing, you should be interested in DIAX-PP-P.

This radial constructed technora fiber laminate is highly advanced and balanced to prevent unwanted elongation. This cloth utilized two high end technora scrims instead of typical polyester scrim.

 The technora scrim is fill orientated for increased luff to leech strength. This is critical for roller furling and over-lapping headsails. High tenacity technora fiber offers high flex and impact durability. Black aramid warp fibers provide load line strength in tri-radial construction. Black die on the technora fibers increase UV resistance. This radial cloth comes from one of the best names in the racing industry, Dimension-Polyant!

Bainbridge’s Code Zero laminate combines rugged durability with a light weight design.  The taffeta used is lighter than other materials generally used for sails and is coated with an anti-mildew treatment to prolong its lifespan.

Strength is maintained in its lamination with specially developed adhesives to increase the bond without increasing the weight.  Using low stretch fibers instead of a thicker film means the sails are lighter since bias loading is less. Additionally, scrim fibers are laid in flat tapes to reduce the thickness and enhance adhesion, as opposed to using round yarns. Bainbridge’s Code Zero Laminate is made to stand the test of time and weather.

Contender Code Zero

Contender's Code Zero laminate has been designed to be stable but light, pliable and easy to handle. This cloth meets the demand for an increasingly lighter cloth but with the strength to support performance oriented crusiers and profesional racing teams.

The zigzag layout of the internal fibres supplies structure and support to the load on the panels and is weaved this way to increase the strength in the radail panels. It is built using two layers of Black Aramid in a 30degree cross pattern placed between film and taffeta for UV protection. Contender's Code Zero Laminate is designed to be dependable and lightweight for all levels of sailors.
