Rig Specifications
These are the specifications provided by the designers, but even from the factory, these boats may not be identical. The reason for this is that the sail industry often contracts manufacturing to different sources in order to achieve economies of scale. What this means is – your Leopard 46 may be more unique than you initially thought.
It’s important to note that boats are also frequently customized, so if you suspect that work has been done on yours, it’s best to take your own measurements. When ordering a sail, we will advise you if using the manufacturer’s specifications is appropriate, or if we require you to complete our own measurement forms.

Interior
The Leopard 46’s interior is spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, making it an ideal choice for long-distance cruising or entertaining guests. The vessel’s interior layout features either three or four spacious cabins, depending on factory selection. Each cabin with its own ensuite bathroom, providing ample space and privacy for guests. Additionally, the Leopard 46 includes a large saloon with panoramic views, a fully-equipped galley, and plenty of storage space for provisions and gear.
Construction
The Leopard 46’s construction process begins with a high-precision mold, which ensures that each hull is identical and meets strict quality standards. Once the mold is prepared, the composite material is laid up in layers, using a vacuum-bagging process to ensure a strong and consistent bond between the layers. After the hulls are constructed, they are joined together using a high-strength structural adhesive, which creates a strong and durable bond between the two halves of the boat. The Leopard 46’s deck is then attached to the hulls using a similar adhesive, resulting in a seamless and strong structure.
History
The Leopard 46 is a luxury catamaran designed for the discerning sailor who values both style and performance. The Leopard 46 was designed by world-renowned naval architects Simonis-Voogd and built by Robertson & Caine, a leading boatbuilder in South Africa. The vessel’s design incorporates the latest in modern technology and materials, resulting in a boat that is both strong and lightweight. Since its introduction in 2007, the Leopard 46 quickly gained popularity among boating enthusiasts for its spacious and comfortable interior, innovative design, and superior performance on the water. The catamarans design has undergone several updates and improvements, including changes to the sail plan and rigging, as well as updates to the interior layout and amenities.
Sail Plan
The Leopard 46 is designed with a powerful rig and sail plan, providing impressive performance and maneuverability on the water. This vessel features a high-aspect-ratio rig with a full-batten mainsail, making it easy to control and adjust sail area to suit the wind conditions. The Leopard 46 also includes a self-tacking jib, which makes it easy to sail single-handedly or with a small crew. Additionally, the vessel’s sail plan features a large, overlapping genoa, providing plenty of power for sailing in light winds. The Leopard 46’s rigging is designed for easy single-handed sailing, with all control lines leading back to the cockpit, where the helmsman can control the boat with ease.
