Rig Specifications
These are the specifications provided by the designers, but even from the factory, these boats may not be identical. The reason for this is that the sail industry often contracts manufacturing to different sources in order to achieve economies of scale. What this means is – your Beneteau 35 may be more unique than you initially thought.
It’s important to note that boats are also frequently customized, so if you suspect that work has been done on yours, it’s best to take your own measurements. When ordering a sail, we will advise you if using the manufacturer’s specifications is appropriate, or if we require you to complete our own measurement forms.

Performance
With various versions of the Beneteau 35 available, there is an option to suit your sailing preferences and conditions. These options begin with the First 35 being designed as a cruising-racer that focuses on speed and agility while maintaining a well thought out interior. Next is the Oceanis 35, which focuses on being a comfort cruiser and features a spacious interior and cockpit. There are also many other options available, such as the Beneteau 35 S5, Beneteau 35 S5 Tall Mast, Beneteau 35 S5 Wing Keel, and Beneteau 35 S7 which offer additional customization options, allowing sailors to tailor their vessel to their specific sailing needs.
Interior & Features
The Beneteau 35 was designed with comfort in mind from the beginning. Although the Beneteau First 35 was designed with racing in mind, the interior was built to cater to the cruising market. On the flip side, the Beneteau Oceanis 35 was designed for cruising and is more spacious and comfortable for extended periods of time. The sailboat also features large windows to let in an abundance of natural light.
History
The Beneteau 35 has a long manufacturing history with many different variations being used throughout the ages. Notably, the French sailboat began production with the Beneteau First 35 in 1980, continuing until 1991, and then resumed production with the Beneteau Oceanis 35 in 2014 as a short sprint until 2016.

Sail Plan
Designed for performance and ease of handling, the Beneteau 35 sail plan is well thought out. With the various versions available, you can easily find a plan that’s tailored to your sailing style. The S5 TM (Tall Mast) increases the combined sail area from roughly 574 ft2 to 622 ft2 for the sailors that are looking for a slight uptick in performance, or often find themselves in lighter wind speeds. Alternatively, if you are often sailing with your family and looking for stability, the S5 WK (Wing Keel) is another great option for additional stability with a slight trade-off in upwind performance.
Overview
The Beneteau 35 is a great choice for any sailor that is looking to have a sailboat that matches their style, with the agility to race and stability for cruising with the family.
