Your Trusted Partner for MacGregor 26S’s:
This is a modified version of the MacGregor 26, which is the original model for the MacGregor 26S. The primary design difference is the addition of a switch board that will ‘kick up’ in case of an accidental grounding. This replaced the original daggerboard design in the MacGregor 26 and MacGregor 26C – although the 26C and 26S can be considered the same model. Read more about it on the MacGregor 26C page.

Rig Specifications
These are the specifications provided by the designers, but even from the factory, these boats may not be identical. The reason for this is that the sail industry often contracts manufacturing to different sources in order to achieve economies of scale. What this means is – your MacGregor 26S may be more unique than you initially thought.
It’s important to note that boats are also frequently customized, so if you suspect that work has been done on yours, it’s best to take your own measurements. When ordering a sail, we will advise you if using the manufacturer’s specifications is appropriate, or if we require you to complete our own measurement forms.
I: 23.00 ft / 7.01 m

Sail Plan
The MacGregor 26S features a sloop rig with a roller furling jib and a fully battened mainsail. The mainsail has a large roach and a high aspect ratio, which means that it provides excellent performance in light winds. The mainsail can also be equipped with lazy jacks and a stack pack, which make it easy to handle and stow.
The roller furling jib is also designed for ease of use, and it can be easily rolled and unrolled from the cockpit. It provides excellent upwind performance and can also be used to sail off the wind. The sail area of the jib is smaller than the mainsail, which helps to balance the sail plan and makes the boat easier to handle.
Design and Features
The MacGregor 26S is a trailerable sailboat, which means it can be easily transported from one location to another. It has a length of 26 feet and a beam of 7 feet, making it compact and easy to maneuver. The sailboat features a water ballast system that makes it stable and safe to sail, even in rough conditions. The ballast can be emptied when the boat is on land, making it easy to transport.
The MacGregor 26S is designed with a roomy cabin that can comfortably accommodate up to six people. The interior is well-appointed, with a functional galley, a comfortable dinette, and a private head. The sailboat also has a large cockpit that provides ample space for relaxing and enjoying the views while sailing.
Performance
The sailboat is designed to perform well in a variety of conditions, from light winds to strong gusts. Its sail plan is simple and easy to manage, even for beginners. In addition to its standard sail plan, the MacGregor 26S can also be equipped with a spinnaker or a cruising spinnaker. These sails provide additional power and speed when sailing off the wind, and they are particularly useful for downwind sailing in light winds. The spinnaker can be flown from a spinnaker pole or a retractable bowsprit, depending on the configuration of the sailboat.
Overview
The MacGregor 26S is a versatile and easy-to-use sailboat that offers a unique blend of sailing and power boating capabilities. Its compact size and water ballast system make it easy to transport and launch, while its roomy cabin and large cockpit provide ample space for relaxation and enjoyment while sailing. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or a beginner, the MacGregor 26S is a sailboat that is definitely worth considering.
