Welcome to Sailing Zingaro

James grew up in the state of Washington but was always drawn to the ocean. This love for the sea lead him to a career in the Navy working on submarines. After 5 years of working below the sea’s surface, James was ready for a change.

Life kept James busy and he bounced around for the next couple years working various jobs living in Paris, Florida and Hawaii. His dream to sail continued to grow and after saving enough money James was able to purchase his first catamaran, SV Zingaro, a 1984 38 foot Crowther Catamaran.  Together with his partner, Kim, they sailed  Zingaro from Mexico to the South Pacific until her untimely demise off the coast of Hawaii in early 2020. Surviving the traumatic experience of being shipwrecked did not dampen James’ passion for the sea and in the fall 2021 he took ownership of SV Zingaro the second, an Oyster 485. After nearly a year of boat repairs and upgrades, the Oyster 485 was ready to sail!

James’ plans for the future are ‘close to the chest’ but he guarantees there will be excitement, a new baby, a sailing expedition to Cape Horne and many more adventures!
