Meet The Team
Exceptional Quality Starts with Exceptional People
Getting the perfect sail begins with the people who make it. At Precision Sails our goal is to work alongside you to design and make the best sail possible for your boat.
Just like any professional team, ours is built from talented and passionate people who bring to the table everything they can to deliver amazing results.
At Precision Sails our team is your team.
CEO | Lead Designer
Darryl is the CEO of the company and our Lead Sail Designer. Quick thinking and focused, he is constantly coming up with new ideas, which keeps us busy and on our toes. As Lead Sail Designer Darryl oversees our design team and can design a killer sail too! Father of three wonderful kids, he loves to be able to spend time with them up at the cabin. Darryl grew up on the water sailing and later joined the Coast Guard to pursue that passion. In 2011 he opened Precision Sail Loft and has been supporting sailors worldwide ever since. Darryl is a boss that truly cares about all his employees and he also occasionally buys beer for everyone. Truly amazing attributes for a boss to have.
Director of Sales | Marketing
Ron is our Director of Sales and Marketing. He grew up windsurfing, water skiing and sailing Hobie cats at his families cottage in Ontario and moved to British Columbia in 1990 to explore, mountain bike, rock climb and windsurf. In 2001 he re-discovered the sailing and cruising life and later joined the Precision Sails team in 2015. Full of energy and new ideas Ron is constantly optimizing and sharing his thoughts. He is passionate about sailing, which makes him an amazing resource to talk to about what sails are best suited for different destinations.
Kaden is one of our Sail Consultants. He spent his summers growing up sailing Lasers on the lake by his family's cabin and began working at the Precision Sail Loft while attending the University of Victoria for a Masters of Music degree. He loves sailing when you can push yourself and the boat… which means he likes sailing where you get wet. Being a Sail Consultant has allowed Kaden to share his fervor for sailing, and best put in Kaden’s words, “people are passionate about their boats and it is rewarding to deliver a great product to sailors who love what they do”.
Design Team Manager | Lead Designer
Andreas oversees the design department and makes sure that it is running like a well-oiled machine. He was born in Kalamata Greece and grew up sailing and fishing everyday with his family, many generations of which where sailors to look up to… all the way back to Poseidon! Andreas went to the University of Chicago for graphic design and pursued culinary school in Greece and Vancouver. He still enjoys sailing however it seems he is always the one cooking when out with friends.
“creating something out of nothing. The idea of creating something pleasing to the eye but also functional. I believe functionality and aesthetics go hand in hand. I enjoy ensuring that our sails not only perform at a higher caliber, but also look great doing so. Every time that I sail, I discover a new place, a new experience and it is always unique. All the stresses and problems of every day are placed on hold and are all left behind at the dock.”
Senior Designer |
Jeremy is one of our Senior Sail Designers. For Jeremy, sail design is the perfect amalgamation of solving puzzles and balancing nuanced aerodynamics. Passionate about opera. Jeremy has been training since high school and sings around the island with several orchestras. Growing up on the west coast meant that Jeremy was frequently on boats growing up. He has traveled to 38 different countries and plans on going to another 5 within the next year. Passionate about sail design, scotch, rugby and traveling, Jeremy can often be found at his desk reading sail design theory textbooks.
Junior Designer |
Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Sebastian grew up sailing the Gulf Islands and the West Coast on his grandfather’s Catalina 38. In high school he bought a Tanzer 22 and spends his weekends out cruising as much as possible. Sebastian’s passion for Sail Design is grounded in his education in Mechanical Engineering, which focused on fluid dynamics and material properties. Being able to work as a sail designer has fueled his passion for sailing and critical thinking at the same time.
Junior Designer |
James is one of our newest Junior Sail Designers. His childhood is marked with sailing in cadets and spending time out on the water with his dad when he was little. Technically minded, James can often be found on the weekends doing competitive drifting and tinkering with cars. With an acute attention to detail and problem-solving skills James loves the science behind sail design. One of James’ highlights of sail design is working alongside clients who are passionate about their boats.
Anthony is our software guy. A recent computer science graduate that moved out to Victoria BC from Windsor, Ontario, he’s been working to improve the technical infrastructure of Precision. He specializes in Web Development and Object-Oriented Programming… which means we are constantly messaging him when the printer doesn’t work. When he’s not in the office, he’s probably playing video games or drawing comics.
Content Development Manager | Marketing
Jeremy is our Content Development Manager and graphics guy. He grew up in Lagos Nigeria and spent many hours on the water cruising the coast and up rivers into remote villages. However, his favorite times were spending his summers in Ontario on the water at his grandparents cabin. He studied media development and copy-writing at the University of Victoria and ran a media company with his wife before joining the Precision Sails team. Adventurous and a true explorer, Jeremy is a new father and can’t wait to start taking his little girl out on the water and camping.
Shipping Alert Supervisor |
Jake is our Shipping Alert Supervisor. Which means he lets us all know when FedEx or DHL are here with your sails. He also doubles as our greeter, saying hello to everybody each morning. Jake can often be found laying at one of our feet or on his blanket in the office. Somehow he ends up being able to sneak under our desks without us knowing though.
